Why is it sustainable?
- The building shell composed of 11 High Cubes (40' long x 9.6 high) is 100% recycled, uses 0% wood with minimal site waste and uses the recycled container wall cutouts for building skirts.
- Molecule will reduce its energy costs through an Energy Star rated heating and cooling system.
- Daylighting considerations are part of the Energy Efficiency design plan with the use of translucent white polycarbonates for vertical architectural applications as well as skylights. Energy efficient fluorescent lighting will also be used.
- Molecule at the Railyard also includes a water-harvesting system for irrigation and a landscaping design using local grasses and trees. Molecule will also be part of the local Santa Fe low-flow toilet program.
- Molecule the store will carry some green conscious products and will adopt a socially responsible program where a percentage of sales will go to environmental, social or humanitarian partners.
- Also, Molecule's showroom will be available to the local designer community for showcasing work as well as providing space for lectures and some pertinent small design events and other culturally compatible ones.
